Honestly they aren’t perfect. The level curve still sucks snd you can’t get certain Johto pokémon until you reach Kanto (for some reason). This applies specially to Dark-types (Murkrow and Sneasel) and Fire-types (Houndour and Slugma). They didn’t even added them to the Safari Zone except for Larvitar.

HG/SS was the definitive and last good pokemon game. Idc what anyone says. We will never get a game with so much heart and soul poured into it. The last few lackluster titles are proof of this. As far as the champion goes, the early pokemon games (gens 1-5) intentionally have the champion be quite a few levels higher than what you're expected to be at. This is to make the battle more difficult, not to require grinding.

in the pokemon ranger side games, the plot is basically helping citizens and defeating an evil team with the help of various pokemons ( that can break walls and help you get rid of numerous obstacles ) I actually loved these games ( well at least the first and the second opus ) because it was so much fun to focus on helping people and building friendships with pokemons and fellow rangers

gsc/hgss are my absolute favorite pokemon games. they really did the remakes justice & i only hope they do that for black/white remakes (is this ever going to happen? lol). i just hope they dont do whatever they did with bdsp.. the remakes should be a love letter to the old players, but have new refreshing things in them for everyone to enjoy, just like hgss

considering how young young kids are constantly on youtube, and pick up minecraft and fortnite type games so fast. I have a feeling if a kid wanted to pick up future pokemon games post the lets go duo they would just watch videos about it. Also adding Red as a final battle was a cool homage to the original final battle we were supposed to get in Red/Blue (Prof Oak). I still think it would be great to have a Let's Go "Johto" DLC to LGP/LGE. Have Oak give you a SS Ticket or create a "new" path south of the Pokemon League entrance (like how it is in gen 2) to get to New Bark Town. Then obviously level scaling would continue up from the end of Kanto. This would also end up offering Johto gym leaders with better versions of their Pokemon and better moves thanks to the higher levels. Then maybe we can finally get that battle with Prof Oak at the top of Mt Silver...

Actually, there are a few exclusive choices in Gold and Silver - they're just not exclusive choices in Crystal. There's ONE Fire Stone, ONE Water Stone, ONE Leaf Stone, and ONE Thunder Stone in Gold and Silver. That means you have to choose which Pokémon to use those to evolve. Once you do, you're never getting another one without trading.
